staff and leadership

Your child is important to us!  At Orenco Christian Preschool teachers and staff are committed to providing a child-friendly, loving atmosphere that promotes growth and learning.   We are here because we believe in the value of early education and setting children up for their future success.

The director and teachers are trained in child development and certified in Child CPR & First Aid and Mandatory Reporting.

All staff have completed a Criminal Background Check.

Karen has served as an early educator for over fourteen years.  She prides herself on being nurturing, caring, and compassionate to young children and their families.  She has a calling and a passion to help children learn and meet their developmental goals while providing a Christ-centered, creative, and engaging classroom full of fun activities.  It is important to her to build a school community between teachers, staff, and families by providing opportunities for parents to be involved in their child's educational experience.

Karen received her Bachelor of Arts in Child Development and is working on a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership.  She has been married for over 28 years to her wonderful husband Sean and has two boxer puppies that she adores.

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.

Mark has served as Pastor at Orenco Church since October 1983. Following his education at California State University and Fuller Theological Seminary, Mark served churches in Red Bluff, California, and Oregon City, Oregon. His wife, Lisa, is a 6th-grade teacher at Orenco Elementary School. Mark and Lisa have three adult children: Sarah, Ben, and Alyssa.

Mark visits with the children every Wednesday morning, telling a story or leading them in song. The children enjoy and look forward to our time with him.

Haven attended Orenco Church in the summer of 2001 at the age of five when she attended Vacation Bible School. She began her church work by becoming a nursery attendant shortly after graduating High School in 2014. Haven began her new position as the Outreach Coordinator for Orenco church in 2020.

Haven has always had a passion for helping others and teaching and caring for children. She began her career as a nanny seven years ago caring for two children and still cares for them. When Haven is not at the church, she can be at a local sporting event cheering in the crowd or at home with her dog.

Jennifer has been attending Orenco Presbyterian Church since she was a child but started serving at Orenco regularly in 2015; she first worked as a volunteer in youth ministries and then became a pastoral assistant in the winter of 2017. She began serving as our Youth Director in the fall of 2018.

Jennifer has always been passionate about working with children and has many years of experience mentoring and guiding youth. Jennifer graduated from Western Oregon University with a B.S. in psychology with an emphasis on child development and a minor in the teaching of mathematics.  Later she completed her Master of Education at George Fox University with endorsements in Mathematics and English as a Second Language. After finishing her education, Jennifer taught in both private and public school settings for seven years. During her teaching years, Jennifer saw a need for mentorship in young women, so she began a group called Girls of Grace, a teen ministry for teen girls.  Due to this ministry, Jennifer discovered she had a deep desire to lead teens towards Jesus, so in 2015 she began working with Impact—Orenco’s Youth Group—in addition to continuing Girls of Grace.

Jennifer is married to her husband John, and they have three kids: Joshua, Evelyn, and Quinton. In her free time, she loves to go for long walks with her family, watch old 80’s movies, and go camping in the great northwest.
