Preschool teacher position

Orenco Christian Preschool is looking for qualified preschool teachers to provide a creative, fun, loving, and engaging experience for young children. You will teach the important elements that contribute to their social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development. A preschool teacher must have great love and patience for children, and the ability to engage them and earn their trust.


Orenco Christian Preschool is a childcare center located near the Orenco Station in Hillsboro, Oregon. We seek to hire teachers, both part-time and full-time available for our upcoming 2024-25 school year.

We are a year-round, full-day childcare center (7:30 am - 5:00 pm) serving ages 2.5-5 years old.


Pay: $17.00-$19.00 Based on experience and education.


Shift: Part-time, Full-time


Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching biblical values in all areas of school programs and lessons.
  • Supervising children at all times while in their care.
  • Planning and implementing classroom curriculum, and daily schedules, following policies, philosophy, and vision of Orenco Christian Preschool.
  • Adhering to all policies of the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care Child Care Licensing Division.
  • Treating each child, parent, and staff member with dignity and respect.
  • Keeping the classroom and space used clean, neat, and clutter-free.
  • Setting up and cleaning all meals and nap times.
  • Meeting the physical requirements necessary for the job including lifting children (if needed), diapering, setting out and putting away nap mats, playground toys, and equipment, getting down on the children’s level to communicate with them, sitting on the floor to read to or play with children, get to distressed or injured children quickly and with ease.
  • Assisting the Director and staff in parent-school relationships, including parent conferences and attendance at parent meetings, parent workshops, and parent meet and greet, etc.
  • Keeping records and observations on each child’s school experiences.
  • Submitting and posting for parental knowledge, clear and current lesson plans, with a copy submitted to the Preschool Director. Lesson Plans must be posted at the beginning of each week per Oregon Licensing.
  • Having positive communications with staff, children, and parents.
  • Making sure children are safe and clean.

Qualifications:

  • Creates a positive learning environment that promotes holistic development in children.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • At least 750 hours of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center, or comparable group care program in the appropriate age level. Infants and/or toddlers; Older toddlers OR preschool-age OR school-age children
  • One year or 1,500 hours of qualifying teaching experience in Registered Family or Certified Family childcare.
  • Documentation of attaining at least step 6 in the Oregon Registry; OR 9 quarter credits in two CKCs (3 must be in HGD or UGB)
  • Associate’s degree from a college or university with a major in Early childhood education, Child Development, Special education, Human Development, Child and family studies.
  • A state or nationally-recognized credential, e.g. Child Development Associate (CDA). Related to infant and toddler care Related to preschool-age children.

TRAINING:

  • CPR/AED/First Aid for Pediatrics
  • Mandatory Reporter Training
  • Food Handlers Permit
  • 15 hours per year of training through Oregon Registry Online
  • Enrolled in Central Background Registry
